This Friday National Sales Director and Rocky’s Brother, Nish Patel will be returning to Havana Alley. We will be featuring two cigars, the Rocky Patel 1961 and Renaissance.

The 1961 is a medium-to full-bodied cigar and was masterfully blended with a Habano seed wrapper from Ecuador, a Honduran binder and Nicaraguan fillers. The result is a smoke that’s rich and spicy, yet smooth and elegant.

The Renaissance is packed full of rich flavor from a beautiful 5 year old Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper surrounding a well aged Nicaraguan and Honduran blend the Renaissance is a smoothly balanced medium to full bodied smoke.

As most of you know, we had our battles with Galveston City Council. On May 8th, the people of Galveston elected a new mayor and city council that gave a new direction for our city. This Thursday that new council will be revisiting the strictest smoking ordinance in the State of Texas.

The current Galveston Smoking Ordinance works as follows:
No Smoking in Bars
No Smoking on Patios
No Smoking in Private Clubs(VFW, Elks Lodge, American Legion, etc.)
No Smoking within 15 feet of public doorways.

The council is proposing to amend the ordinance to allow:
Smoking in Adult Venues (Bars that do not allow minors to enter)
Smoking on Patios
Smoking in Private Clubs(VFW, Elks Lodge, American Legion, etc.)
No Smoking within 5 feet of public doorways.
Relieving current alcohol restrictions at Retail Tobacco Shops

Please show your support for smokers rights at Thursday’s City Council Meeting by voicing your opinion during the public comment section at 4:00 PM. Those of you who show up must register with the GPD officer sitting in the back of council chambers. Please spread the word and help support your local bars, clubs and of course your favorite cigar shop, Havana Alley.

At our next event, Paul Costo with La Flor Dominicana Cigars will be featuring two of their newest lines, The Air Bender and Double Ligero Oscuro.

The Air Bender features an Ecuadorian Habano Wrapper with a Dominican filler and binder. It starts out full flavored and spicy but mellows out into a medium bodied and balanced smoke. This cigar has a bourbon like flavor with lots of pepper and dry oak.

The Double Ligero Oscuro line features a “darker than maduro” Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. Its full flavored, earthy with lots of pepper, the signature of a La Flor Cigar. This cigar is must try for those of you who love full flavored cigars.

The Camacho Connecticut is a mild yet spicy cigar very interesting wrapper. Back in October of 2008, Davidoff Cigars acquired Camacho and that gave them access to Davidoff’s great tobacco. This stick features a Davidoff Connecticut wrapper filled with Camacho’s great corojo leaf.

The other cigar we will be featuring is the new Camacho Room 101. Room 101 was a collaboration with Hollywood jewelery designer Matt Booth, Franco Vescovi and Dylan Austin of Camacho. It’s a medium body smoke and features a special wrapper they are calling “Semilla 101.” Check out the Room 101 Website.
